The Strong Adventure Race: 4 & 8 hr Events

This year we will have two events to challenge athletes as they wind their way through the Cherokee National Forest. Disciplines include mountain biking, trail running, flatwater paddling, orienteering points and a few special surprises along the way. While basic swimming ability will be required, it will not resemble anything like a triathlon. (and you WILL have your PFDs on!) Basic navigational skills will be needed. More advanced nav skills are required for certain optional sections.

This race is unsupported.

The Strong Adventure Race will benefit the North River Family YMCA & Aquatic Center's Strong Kids Campaign.

New for 2010! The 8hr event is part of the National Checkpoint Tracker Series. To be counted towards the national series, teams must register on the Checkpoint Tracker website: www.checkpointtracker.com

Cost
Team, 8hr: $225 ($75/person)
Team, 4hr: $165 ($55/person)
Solo, 8hr: $85

* TrailBlazer Adventure Racing Club members can receive a $5 discount with a valid membership card.

A limited number of canoes are available to rent for an additional $25. (3 PFDs, 3 paddles and transportation are included in this fee.)

Team Format
Teams can be coed, all male, or all female. The solo division will be an open category, unless 5 or more of each gender sign up. Right now, we do not plan on having a Masters division unless the demand is high. (let us know!)

Prizes
Cash prizes will only be awarded to the top three coed teams of the 8hr race.

The top teams in the all female and all male team categories, as well as soloists of the 8hr, and all divisions of the 4hr race, will receive sponsor prizes.
